Now the first most time consuming thing is renaming some of the videos you download to match the names of the roms. First off, be aware you’re going to want to get the Hyperspin membership (lifetime) to get access to their ftp which has all the wheel images and themes (themes are the fancy animated art that appears when you highlight a game) and at least a 1 month membership to emumovies to get your video snaps.
It took me about 5 full nights worth of work to set it up. r/pinball - Pinball specific discussion. r/arcade - Original CoinOP Arcade specific discussion. r/RetroGamingNetwork - a multireddit for retro gaming! r/HyperSpin - HyperSpin specific discussion. R/MAME RULES/REGULATIONS REDDIT'S ARCADE COMMUNITY Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus.
The fact that the software is usable serves primarily to validate the accuracy of the documentation (how else can you prove that you have recreated the hardware faithfully?).
The source code to MAME serves as this documentation. This is achieved by documenting the hardware and how it functions. As electronic technology continues to rush forward, MAME prevents this important "vintage" software from being lost and forgotten. MAME’s purpose is to preserve decades of software history. MAME is a multi-purpose emulation framework. Don’t worry that your executable is called “LEDBlinky.exe” and not “LEDBlink.exe”, I believe that this is a typo in the interface.Questions? Please check out OUR MAME/BYOAC Wiki! Under “Path to LEDBlink.exe”, click the folder icon and browse to where your executable is.The last step is to set up HyperSpin to automatically load LEDBlinky when it starts.Continue on for all of your 4-way games until you are done.If this is the case, then just click cancel and move onto the next game. You may notice that in the “Common” tab you may notice that the game is already set to “CONTROL_JOY4WAY”.
You will now want to add a primary control for each of the games that you have that uses a 4-way joystick using the same method as you used for setting “”, but selecting “CONTROL_JOY4WAY” instead of “CONTROL_JOY8WAY”.In the right pane, select the game you just added and then click new. It’s a good idea to have your \Databases\Mame\Mame.xml file open to look at what the names are. Enter the name of the game you want to add.Since we set the default toe 8-way, every game not listed will automatically be 8-way. Since there are more 8-way games than 4-way games, we will only add the 4-way games. Select the “Import” menu, then “Mame Games” to add a new game.Click “OK” on the bottom of the main window.Select “CONTROL_JOY8WAY” in the drop down menu.Check “Default” on the bottom of the window.Click the “New” button on the the right pane.Click on each game in the right pane and click “Del”.In the left pane there should be “” and “MAME”.Click the “Save” menu at the top of the screen and then close the application.Under the “Other Options” area, check “No LEDs Mode”.Under the “Joystick Digital Restriction” area, check “ServoStik (4/8)”.I believe it’s only used for defaults when you set up games, but I’m not sure. Click on the “Mame Config” tab and enter the relevant information (see picture below).Click the “FE” menu and select “HyperSpin”.
You may get a pop up complaining about LEDBlinkyInputMap.xml, but since I’m not using LEDs this is not a file I need. Run the file \Tools\LEDBlinky\LEDBlink圜onfig.exe.Ignore the 4 or 5 files (because they are plugins for other front ends) and just grab the sub folder and move it to \Tools. There will be 4 or 5 files and a sub folder called “LEDBlinky”. I downloaded LEDBlinky v6.2 and extracted it.
The full version of the program costs $20 USD. Note: LEDBlinky is not a free program, it will have a popup telling you that it is on trail mode each time it loads.
I also has extra features like being able to interface to HyperSpin and send controls to the ServoStik. LEDBlinky is designed to control various LED lights in your arcade cabinet (which I don’t have). I used a program called LEDBlinky which you can get at. The following is what I did to get myServoStik joysticks auto switching in HyperSpin depending on which game you load.
